The Village participated in the Waukee Fall Festival
parade. Steve Sieloff drove his vintage John Deere
tractor which pulled our float.

Many of our employees and their children rode on the
float, threw candy to parade goers, and passed out
flyers to people in the crowd. What a great group!

October Neighbor
Of The Month
Jake & Florence
Cushing
Jake and Florence Cushing moved into The Village
Assisted Living apartments on
May 1, 2007. They said they
have felt very comfortable here
and everyone is friendly.
They feel there is truly a family oriented atmosphere.
Jake and Florence both grew up in Dallas County. Jake
went to school in Van Meter and Florence went to Adel.
Before their marriage, Jake farmed and sold seed corn
and
Florence taught at a country school. They married on
June
7, 1948 then moved to Earlham. They had two wonderful
daughters, Joyce and Annette. In the 60’s Jake worked
for
Pioneer and Florence worked for the ASCS office in
Adel.
There they enjoyed their beautiful flower and vegetable
gardens. Now they are the proud grandparents of two
grandsons and two great grandsons.
Jake and Florence have taken the time to enjoy life.
You
may not know this but they both loved to dance. They
won
a dance contest at Lake Robbins. Florence was a terrific
piano player and Jake sang. Jake loved to mushroom
hunt
and go fishing in the spring. They would take road
trips to
Wisconsin and Arkansas in the fall. They loved all
of the
beautiful fall colors. When winter came, they would
spend
time in Texas with their good friends Dick and Bonnie
Hulse. They said they have had a great life! And we
are blessed to have a great couple as part of our Village
family.
