Summer has finally arrived!
I wanted to give you an update on the Customer Satisfaction Surveys. I received 6 out of 40 responses back from Assisted Living and 19 out of 47 back from the nursing facility. I want to thank those of you who participated. Your opinion and ideas are valued and we recognize that your suggestions can improve our community.
These are some of the changes we have put into place after the survey results:
We are please to announce the facility has just purchased a van for our community to be used for scheduled activities and trips. Direct TV has been offered as another choice, beside Mediacom, of service for the entire community. Families suggested we get a pop or coffee machine for guests in the nursing facility instead of having to commute to the Town Center. Pop and candy machines have been installed in the employee break room that you may use as well. If you need assistance please ask the staff. A Bird Aviary has been purchased and placed in the nursing facility common area and Rose will be purchasing birds for the residents to enjoy.
NEW CONSTRUCTION:
You will soon see construction for our new memory care unit in Waukee. This is very exciting and a needed addition to our community. Please watch for notices on the Ground Breaking/Open House Event.
Have a Great Summer,
Yvonne Potter, Executive Director

Activity News with Rose
The residents and I have been enjoying the wonderful weather outdoors (when it is not raining). Everything is so green and the flowers are just beautiful. Our garden in the Care Center courtyard is doing very well. We have been enjoying the radishes and the tomato plants, they are really growing.
Our Mother’s Day Tea Party was again a success. We had some great entertainment and again want to thank Lee Kopper for allowing us to use some of her doll collection for our decorations and donating the door prizes.
Please watch for the upcoming activities for July and August. We are going to have a special Patriotic Program on the 1st of July and Julie Moss will be back to entertain us in July.
I am getting a list together of anyone who may be interested in going to Prairie Meadows for an outing. If you are interested please call me (Rose) at 987-4102.
If you know of someone who is interested in getting rid of some outdoor furniture we are looking to add more things to our court yard. Please have them contact me at the number above.
Please keep your activity calendars out, check out the daily activity board and also check on the bulletin boards for additional activities that are posted. We always have some exciting things going on and love to have lots of people take part in these activities.
Sincerely,
Rose Seibert
Activity Coordinator

Hello from Assisted Living
I believe some of you have met me, Karen Bode RN, the new Assistant Living Coordinator. I have been trying to meet as many of you and your families as I can on a daily basis. I want to get to know all of you as well as you getting to know me.
I come to you here at The Village with a background of approximately 12 years of hospice experience, was a nurse reviewer at Principal Insurance for several years, have had hospital experience as well and have worked in assisted living.
I was born and raised in Gary, Indiana, and have lived in several cities in Illinois as well as Clear Lake for seven years. I consider Iowa home for the past 24 years.
I am married and have 3 grown children as well as 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
My door is always open and you are more than welcome to come and introduce yourself and tell me something about you which several of you have already done. I am here to assist you in any way I can.
Karen Bode, RN

Strawberry Crepes with Chocolate Merlot Fudge Sauce

This elegant looking dessert has just the right balance of flavors with the sweet strawberries and rich chocolate wine sauce. Purchase crepes in the produce section of your local supermarket or make your own if you have time.
2 cups sliced strawberries
8 pre-made crepes, warmed
¼ cup Chocolate Merlot Fudge Sauce, warmed
Spoon ¼ cup strawberries in center of each crepe; roll up and place seam side down on a serving plate. Drizzle fudge sauce evenly over crepes. Makes 4 servings.
